Why Some Paths Become Sacred in Folklore
Roads, trails and crossings often become more than geography in folklore, taking on symbolic meanings tied to transition, danger and transformation.

Paths appear again and again in folklore because they represent movement between states: home and wilderness, safety and uncertainty, the known and the unknown.
A road can become sacred, forbidden or dangerous not because of the ground itself, but because of the stories attached to crossing it.
Thresholds in Motion
In many traditions, crossroads, forest paths and pilgrimage routes are places where ordinary rules weaken. They become spaces for omens, encounters and transformation.
That symbolism survives because a path naturally carries a question: once you begin walking, what will be different when you reach the other side?
